People set these MASSIVE goals for the new year, but they don’t realize it’s all the little things you do every day to get there. As someone who lost 45 pounds recently, I know this to be a fact. It’s about our daily habits. In 2013 many of us will set resolutions, but just like usual, few will succeed. If you want to become healthy next year, integrate these habits into your day to day life…
Eating Right
Ok, this may sound cliche, but before you think you know what eating right is – educate yourself! WARNING: You May Think You Eat Good! The best books I’ve read on health are:
- 150 Healthiest Foods on earth by Jonny Bowden
- The Primal Blueprint by Mark Sisson
- The UltraMind Solution by Mark Hyman
These books dive deep into health issues and offer a creative, proactive solution for dieting. If your goal is losing weight, a lot of it comes down to eating the proper carbs. Many people eat so many bad simple carbs daily that they have no chance at meeting their goals. This carb intake also affects energy levels greatly. This means eating right every day, not only when it’s convenient. You have to be the one getting the salad at the bar when all your friends are getting burgers. It’s not easy at first, but you’ll shortly find that it becomes easy when you start to feel great.
Working Out
Working out should be like brushing your teeth. Despite what experts say, you just need a half-hour in the gym a day. Do a mile and half run and a few workouts, and you are done. If you go to a local gym, find an excellent personal trainer, once you take a few sessions, you won’t need anymore. You’ll find if you keep it basic and just do it every day, along with eating correctly, you’ll get results fast.
Meditation
To be completely healthy, your brain must be in harmony with the rest of your body. If you have a healthy body but a broken brain, it doesn’t help much! Every day we have loads of thoughts thrown at us, which can be overwhelming for our brains. I have found that meditating 20 minutes a day helps me feel much less cloudy headed. I can make decisions easier, and everything in my life feels much smoother. The goal of meditation is to just breathe and not think at all.
Eat More Greens
Some people would never know it, but their weight/health problems stem from their digestive system. Greens like kale, broccoli, spinach, celery, and cucumbers are all amazing for you. I started making my self a horrible tasting, but extremely healthy, green shake every day. I got this originally from Joe Rogan…
Surround Yourself With Good People
This, of course, is the one that is usually the most important but also the hardest to integrate. Meet new people with like-minded health goals! If you are a runner, hang out with runners. If you want to try a low carb diet, hang out with low carbs! There are so many great communities both online and offline. Check out MeetUp.com to find like-minded people.
